Promoting Scholarly Success through Leadership and Community Service
The Student Advisory Board provides students with the opportunity to serve as representatives of the Office of Supportive Services thorough their involvement in a variety of office, campus, and community activities designed to promote citizenship and leadership. With the purpose of advancing the ideals of community, professional, and academic achievement, the mission of the Student Advisory Board reflects a commitment to excellence on the part of its members. Believing that true scholarship involves more than just academic achievement, the goals of the Student Advisory Board are as follows:
Enhance interpersonal and communication skills that will foster personal and professional development.
Coordinate and assist with University and office legislative and lobbying efforts.
Serve as a liaison between students and office staff.
Collaborate with other University offices and/or organizations to develop activities and events centered around leadership and citizenship.
Bridge a gap between the Office of Supportive Services and the Syracuse Community through community service and involvement.
Some of the activities performed by the Student Advisory Board include:
Thanksgiving Food Drive
Letter-Writing Campaign
Lobby Day in Albany, New York
Comstock KidsFest
Gear-Up Mentoring Program
Career Development Workshops
Leadership Retreat at Alfred University
Community Service
