Guidance Counselors
Welcome to The Office of Supportive Services(O.S.S.) at Syracuse University.
Assisting high school students with the college application process can be challenging. We would like to offer you, the high school counselor, some help by providing information about Syracuse University, the Syracuse community, and telling you about two sponsored programs Syracuse University offers for low-income, under represented, students. The Office of Supportive Services administers both the New York State funded Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) and the Student Support Services program (SSS) a federally funded TRIO program. These programs provide full need financial aid packages, a pre-freshman orientation experience (SummerStart), and academic counseling throughout their Syracuse University experience. Many high school students are unaware of these opportunities and we are counting on you to inform them.
Please visit the HEOP and SSS program links and review the student eligibility guidelines and criteria. If you are in the process of writing letters of recommendation and feel that some students may be eligible for our programs, please clearly indicate this in your letter(s).
If your high school is in the New York City area, you may wish to contact our Lubin house office at (212) 826?0335 or visit the Lubin House website. Admissions staff welcomes opportunities to visit high schools, hold informational sessions and participate in college fairs.
